A visitor's visa can be extended once inside South Africa for up to a further 90 days, provided you apply at least 60 days before it expires. Applications are lodged online via VFS Global on behalf of the Department of Home Affairs.

A work visa lets a foreign national work legally in South Africa. The main options are the General Work Visa (Section 19(2) of the Immigration Act) and the Intra-Company Transfer Visa (Section 19(5)). Both are applied for at a VFS Global Visa Facilitation Centre on behalf of the Department of Home Affairs (DHA).

A study visa (Section 13 of the Immigration Act) is issued to foreign nationals accepted at a registered South African school, TVET college or university. It is valid for the duration of your programme and is applied for via VFS Global on behalf of the Department of Home Affairs.
