Download from the DHA website and complete carefully. Any correction must be counter-signed.

Pay the VFS service fee and Home Affairs application fee
Fees are paid through the VFS portal or at the appointment.

Bring originals plus certified copies. VFS will forward everything to Home Affairs.

Processing time

Typically 4–8 weeks. Do not book a flight based on your visa expiry date — plan around the processing time.

Validity

Up to a further 90 days from the date the extension is granted. Total combined visitor stay in a 12-month period should not exceed 6 months.

Renewal

A visitor's visa cannot be extended more than once. If you need to stay longer you must leave South Africa and apply for a new visa from your country of ordinary residence.
