South Africa in numbers
The full dataset behind the homepage dashboard: nine key national figures, updated automatically from official statistics via the World Bank open data feed. Each figure shows the latest available year and how it changed from the year before.
About these figures
Stats SA's own website does not allow automatic reading, so these figures come from the World Bank open data feed, which republishes official Statistics South Africa and International Labour Organization numbers. They are annual estimates — quarterly Stats SA releases (such as the Quarterly Labour Force Survey) may differ slightly and are often more recent.
For the very latest quarterly figures, always check statssa.gov.za directly. Figures on this page refresh automatically once a day.
